Classic WWII/Korean-era M1 Garand by Springfield Armory in .30-06 Springfield — late-WWII receiver with documented U.S. Army arsenal-replacement barrel.
Serial number 3430*** places the receiver in late WWII production (circa March 1945) at Springfield Armory. The barrel is marked S-A 12-51, indicating a December 1951 Springfield barrel installed during an official U.S. Army arsenal rework — a desirable, service-correct configuration for collectors. The gas cylinder and front band show later black enamel over parkerizing consistent with arsenal practices.
Features include a blade front sight with protective ears and ramp, adjustable rear aperture sight, and a full parkerized finish. The three-piece military walnut stock set has been refinished with a smooth varnish. Fittings and accessories: checkered steel buttplate with trap, milled trigger guard, bayonet lug, stacking swivel, and leather sling.
Collector Note: As a Springfield-made, late-WWII receiver paired with an SA 12-51 arsenal replacement barrel, this example is regarded among top-tier collector Garands — combining wartime manufacture with official postwar arsenal upgrades.
