When it comes to legendary military rifles known for exceptional build quality and accuracy, the Swedish Mauser M1896 is always high on the list. This is easily the most accurate rifle I’ve ever shot.

This rifle is the true early sniper variant M41, not a later conversion. Sweden upgraded only about 5,300 rifles between 1941–1943 into sniper rifles based on demonstrated accuracy. Most M41 rifles were built on Carl Gustafs receivers this one is the far rarer early Mauser Oberndorf 1899 receiver.

Sweden demanded exceptional metallurgy and even supplied high nickel Swedish steel to Mauser in Germany for these early contracts.

Production numbers for comparison:
Mauser Oberndorf: 40,000 M1896 rifles (1899–1900)
CG: 475,000
Husqvarna: 20,000
Total M96 production: ~535,000

Based on ratio, fewer than ~400 Oberndorf M41 snipers was made, and surviving examples in Canada are probably in single-digit territory.

Condition: Excellent to Very Good, Metal finish bluing is great, rifle itself all numbers matching. Scope AGA 42 crystal clear rare, usually cloudy, scope ring + mount matching itself. Bore is shining and strong with lots of rifling. Trigger and bolt is super smooth.

Interestingly, the stock has 12 tally marks believed to be sniper kill marks (cannot verify, but an interesting piece of history)

True M41 rifles consistently sell $5,000+ at auction plus premium, M41B brings even higher.
