AYA Model XXV (25) 12 ga SxS Shotgun

This is a 1974 AYA, XXV model 12 gauge sxs shotgun with 2 3/4” chambers. Based upon Robert Churchill’s designs from 1925, the barrels are 25” long with the classic “Churchill Rib”. Serial numbers on stock, barrels and fore-stock match. If you were imagining a perfect upland gun for ruffed grouse and woodcock, this would be it. 

The action is tight with no signs of looseness. Barrels ring true. Bores are bright and shiny with no signs of pitting or rust. Wood is beautiful, and has been well taken care of. Tang safety with double triggers. Minor handling marks consistent with age and regular use. 

The XXV model was based upon Robert Churchill’s design for the ideal shotgun. By reducing the barrel length to 25”, he could provide a lighter gun for all day handling. The AYA model is exactly that, a very light gun that is well balanced in the hands. The “Churchill Rib” is a high rib design, allowing for quick target acquisition. The English stock is a rare feature on these guns, and much sought after.

Gun will ship with a leather leg of mutton gun case that fits the gun perfectly (see photos).
